Maths Puzzle
X covers a distance of 60 km in 6 hrs partly on foot at the rate of 4 km/hr and partly on a cycle at 14 km/hr. Find the distance traveled on foot.
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- 9.6 kms.
If F is the distance travelled on foot, then
F/4 + (60-F)/14 = 6
solving it, we get
F= 9.6 kms - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- let by foot covered distance is x km in t hr time. so x/t=4km/hr eqn(1).
accordingly, by cycle distance 60-x km in time 6-t hr time. so (60-x)/(6-t)=14 eqn(2).
On solving eqn (1) & (2) x=9.6 km & t=2.4 hr. Ans. 9.6 km - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
