Explanation:
Let x be father age and y be son's age.
x = 2y ->1
(x-8)/(y-8) = 8/3 ->2
Solving 2, 3x-24 = 8y-64
=> x = (8y-40)/3
Substituting in 1, (8y-40)/3 = 2y
=> 8y-40 = 6y
=> 2y = 40
=> y = 20
