-
- given that the book comprises of 50 pages
means that 1-50----> the count of all the pages sum is 1+2+3+....+50
i.e.,
(50 x 51)/2= 1275
but in the question it is given that some of the pages are teared from the book and the sum of the remaining pages left in the book is 4949.
even though by summing all the pages in the book we can't get the sum as 4949.
so simply the the puzzle is wrong
hence the puzzle is solved. :P - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(2)
- If the book has 100 pages numbered 1-100.
sum of all page numbers = 101*100/2=5050
sum of remaining page numbers = 4949
sum of missing page numbers = 101
Then missing page numbers will be 3 if two pages on each leaf are considered.
say (3,4), (5,6), (41,42) which is normal case.
or
6 pages if each leaf has one page. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
