A person invested 3 times as much money at 5% as he had invested at 2% per annum simple interest. Further he invested Rs 6000 more at 3% than he had invested at 2%. If the total interest from the three investments after a year is Rs 980, then what is the total amount he invested?
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- Let the amount invested in 2% be Rs.x
Then, Inv. in 5% is Rs.3x and in 6% is x+6000
Now Interest earned is:
2%x=x/50, 5% of 3x=3x/20 and 3% of x+6000=(3x+18000)/100
Now as per the condition
(x/50)+(3x/20)+(3x+18000)/100=Rs.980
Solving we get x=Rs.4,000( inv. in 2%)
Investment in 5% is Rs.12000
Investment in 3% Rs.10000
Total investment is Rs.Rs.26,000/- - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)
- Just a typing mistake in the second line
