Maths Puzzle
1,4,13,40.............?
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- the pattern is by multiples of 3 added to the preceding number;
1+3= 4 that's 3
4+9=13 because 3*3 is 9
13+27=40 coz 9*3 is 27
40+81=121 coz 27*3 is 81
121+243=364 coz 81*3 is 243
finally the series is 1,4,13,40,121,364.....
hope this helps! - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(0)
- 1,4,13,40,121,364....
3^1 is added with 1, then3^2 is added with 4,then 3^3 is added with 13 and so on. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(2)
- difference between 1 and 4 is 3
difference between 4 and 13 is 9 which is 3^2
difference between 13 and 40 is 27 which is 3^3
so after 40 the number is 40+81 which is 121 i.e. 40 + 3^4 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
