in class total no. of students 15 in which 7 students speak english and 8 student speak hindi , 3 student can not speak in both language so how many student can speak both language ??please find solution
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- by set theory........
let no of students be represented in set
n(English speaking)=7 and n(Hindi speaking)=8 and given total students that is n(EUH)=15 ...therefore the total union of sets formula gives n(EUH)=n(English speaking)+n(Hindi speaking)-n(both speaking students )+ n(none speaking students )...........................this gives
15=8+7+3-(both speaking)
or both speaking=18-15
=3
therefore 3 students speak both the languages - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(0)
- total student 15
3 student doesnt know any language
reamaining 12 student who khow any language
8 know english 7 know hindi .. total 15 student thus student know both language = 15-12 = 3
so 3 student knows both language - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(1)
- N(H)=8 // know hindi
N(E)=7 // know english
as mention that 3students can not speak in both language
so number of student who speak either english or hindi : N(H & E)= 15-3 = 12
N(H or E)=N(H) + N(E) - N(H & E) = 3
