A sum 's' is divided into 4 parts. second person gets Rs 10
more than first.3rd person is Rs 10 more than second,4th is 10 more than 3rd.how much amount do 1st person get.?
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- let x be amount getting by first person,
second person gets x +10,third person gets x + 20,fourth person gets x + 30,
now s = (x)+(x+10)+(x+20)+(x+30)
s = 4x + 60
s - 60 = 4x
or x = (s-60)/4 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(32) No(1)
- 1st person gets Rs.(s-60)/4
Let us assume that 1st person gets Rs.x
then 2nd will get Rs.x+10
3rd will get Rs.x+20
4th will get Rs.x+30
then the sum s=x+(x+10)+(x+20)+(x+30)
=> s=4x+60
=> 4x=s-60
=> x=(s-60)/4
Therefore 1st pesron will get Rs.(s-60)/4 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(11) No(1)
- a,b,c,d are the four persons...
b=10+a;
c=10+b;
d=10+c;
a+b+c+d is the total amount 'S'
then substituing the values in terms of A :
a+10+a+20+a+30+a+40+a
5a will be 100 , so a=20.....
which is a=(s-60)/4 as mentioned above........

- Let assume 1 get x amount, so 2 gets 10+x, 3 gets 10+10+x
and 4 gets 10+10+10+x
so,
S=x+10+x+10+10+x+10+10+10+x
S=4x+60
S-60=4x
S/4-60/4=x
S/4-15=x
Let we Assume S=100
100/4-15=x
25-15=x
So, x=10
So, 1 gets 10,2 gets(10+x)=20,3 gets 30,4 gets 40
So, S=10+20+30+40
S=100
