let the total number of votes be x, then,
65% of x-35% of x = 450
=> 30% of x=450.
30*x/100 = 450 or

((X*65)/100)-((X*35)/100)=450
=>30*X/100=450
=>30*X=450*100

loser votes = (100-65)% of x =>35%of x
Acc. to problem
(65-35)% of x = 450

solving for x, we get

Let assume two candidate A and B.
If 100% vote is polled
A got 65%
B got (100-65)%=35%

Difference in % of vote=30%
So, by unitary method...
30%------450 votes
1%--------450/30 =15 votes
100%-----15*100=1500 votes

So total votes polled=1500.

Let Total number of votes polled = x

Since One candidate won by 450 votes. It means whatever percentage difference between those two candidates is equal to 450.

Now, as per above question: Candidate A got 65% which means Candidate B definitely got 35%.

So, difference between percentage is 65%-35%=30%

i.e. x * 30% = 450
or, x = 450 / 0.3 = 1500(Option 9)

Let the total number of votes polled is x.
Then According to the question,
(65x/100)-(35x/100)=30x/100=450
if we solve then we will get x=1500 Ans
Hence option (9) is the right answer.

Therefore; T = A + B, A = 0.65T, B = A - 450 = 0.65T - 450.
