In 2017, A is 9 years older than B who is five times as old as C. The total of the ages of A, B and C is 97 years. What would be the average of A and C ages in the year 2024 ?

Solution

Let’s assume Age of B be B years
Age of A = B+9
Age of C = B/5

Total age = B + 9 + B + B/5 = 97
Solving 11B/5 = 88
B = 40
A = B+9 = 40+9 = 49
C = 40/5 = 8

Age of A in 2024 = 49+7 = 56
Age of C in 2024 = 8+7 = 15

Average of ages in 2024 = (56+15)/2 = 35.5
