The values of x and y are respectively?

Solution

x = 3y - 3 and x^2 + y^2 = 97
On solving these two equations
x = 9 and y = 4

according to the question,
x=3y-3 ............ (1)
x^2+y^2=97......... (2)
Putting the value of x in equation (2), we get
(3y-3)^2+y^2=97
or, 9y^2-18y+9+y^2=97
or, 10y^2-18y-88=0
or, 5y^2-9y-44=0
or, 5y^2-20y+11y-44=0
or, 5y(y-4)+11(y-4)=0
or, (y-4)(5y+11)=0
Therefore, y=4
Now, we get from equation (1)
x=3*4-3
or, x=12-3
or, x=9
So,The values of x and y are 9 and 4
Hence, My option is (4)

(3y-3)^2+y^2=97
9y^2-18y+9+y^2-97=0
10y^2-18y-88=0
10y^2-40y+22y-88=0
10y(y-4)+22(y-4)=0
(10y+22)(y-4)=0
Hence x,y=9,4

x^2 + y^2 = 97
(3y-3)^2 + y^2 = 97
y =4
x = 3y - 3 = 9
