A man invests 2000 rupee in two business. In first business , he gets a loss of 10 %, whereas in second he gets a profit of 25 %.If overall profit is 4 % of the net investment, then difference of amounts of these two investments will be

Solution

Loss of the first business = 0.1x ( here x is investment in first business)
Profit in the second business = 0.25(2000-x)
so 0.25(2000-x)- 0.1x = 2000*0.04 = 80
On solving we get x = 1200
so answer = 400
