first no. in the sequence is 16.........(4^2)
now for second no. take next square......(5^2)
i.e. 25 now insert 25 between 1 and 6 i.e.of previous no. so next no. will be
12 36 56 i.e.insert 36 between the recent square digits i.e. 2 and 5.now insert 49 between 3 and 6.so,123 49 656.. now finally insert 64 between 4 and 9..i.e.1234 64 9656......so option 5 is the correct answer.

each time, the square of the next number gets added in the middle.
here, first number is 16=4^2.
next number is 1(5^2)6=1256
next number is 12(6^2)56=123656
and so on....

The reason is that square of a number is added in between the digits.starting from 4 ^2, 5^2,..upto 8^2 in btw d digits.
