Dear admin and friends,

The answer given for yesterday puzzle about 'Final match' is not correct.

It is already given that

There winning order is A>B>C>D>E>F>G>H.

In that case EFGH are in lower rank in both the pools in any possible arrangement.

Only ABCD can reach in semi final with all possible combinations .

As it is given that C has not reached in final,
Possible combinations for final are
AB
AD
BD.

Out of these three combinations, we ae interested in one combination i.e. AB.

Hence probability of final between A and b is 1/3.


I think administrator has forgotten the given condition

There winning order is A>B>C>D>E>F>G>H.


Please check and give your comments please.

it is given that
There are 8 teams A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H. There winning order is A>B>C>D>E>F>G>H.

Can u make it clear whether this order is final or after knock out round ?

The probability that a person A who is now 25 years old will not live for another 30 years is 1 - 2/5 = 3/5
The probability that the person B who is now 45 years old will not live for another 30 year is
1 - 7/16 = 9/16
The probability that none of these persons will be alive 30 years = (3/5)*(9/16) = 27/80
The probability that at least one of these persons will be alive 30 years = 1 - 27/80 = 53/80

@ Pooja,

If you mean that watch is showing correct time at 8 AM,
and
you want correct time when watch shows 8 PM, then
after x correct hrs, displayed time is x-x/120 hrs

hence
x-x/120 =12
119x = 12*120
x= 12*120/119 = 12.1008 hrs or 12 hrs 6 mins approx

so correct time is 8:06 PM approx

there are infinite numbers possible for that statement.

Yesterday I also getting same doubt like you. But, I guess that yesterday puzzle was in without repetition and limit was 5 digits. So, according to that only i solved. But all know that the puzzle was not in clear.Let We hope that Admin will respond regarding to that puzzle as soon.??

Yes, i know that you pointed out that mistake yesterday. But, there is no use for us by submit our queries in Placement Puzzle section. Because, after submitting query in that section also, Admin is not responding for that yet. So only i said.

Dear Admin,

It is not fair fair on your part to change language of qn on next day .
According to statement
Sum of all the numbers formed by the integers 2,3,4,5,8 is ....

The sum can not be calculated as there are infinite numbers that can be made with these integers.

On next day , you changed the statement to help some members with wrong answers with new statement

Sum of all the 5 digit numbers formed by the integers 2,3,4,5,8 is
(Repetition is not allowed)

whether there is any limit on number of digits in a number formed by these integers.

Sum of x terms = (x/2)*(2*30 +(x-1)*1)
when x=129,
sum = 129*188/2 =129*94=12126
for x=130
sum = 65*189=12285

so min value of x should be 130 so that
30+31+32+33+................ upto x numbers > 12250


so answer is 130.

I'm not ask my points back for yesterday puzzle. I'm asking for day before yesterday(15.02.2012) puzzle. On that day answer will be Option 5)4 which was be accepted by admin. Me too selected option 5)4 only. But my marks deducted by -1. That why i am asking.

Refer the solved puzzle(#M40000070)

The answer has given as 16 but I found it as 15
Because, there would be four cuts required to get maximum No of pieces of cake. We do not get the maximum pieces when the cutting would be parallel.Therefore, axial cutting is required.
For this the following formula has been used:

For N(max)=(n^3+5n+6)/6
Anticipating other members of this forum can share their views.
