I think answer given by site administrator for the puzzle (How many methods are possible for arranging 5 boys and 4 girls in such a way that no 2 girls could sit together?) is wrong.

Mr. Biswas has also accepted the same and commented as
there are 10 ways...
and 5!*4!*10=2880
i m not sure ...admin ...plzz update the correct answer clearly fr better understandin......plzzz!!!!

I think
The correct sol will be 5!*7p4
or 120*7*6*5*4.

Pls check and correct.

@ Prerna,

According to your explanation,

when the condition states three consecutive integers are not allowed, will that mean two consecutive integers also not allowed & also same integer not allowed??? that doesn't imply such way... sorry...

and for Friday puzzle, you can refer postings by MP and Jamat. As they said 52 is the correct answer.

The main thing is 5 boxes r similar so don't consider the order of boxes. Just check for splitting the letters among the boxes. 5,0,0,0,0 4,1,0,0,0 and so on... in that u have to consider which letters u r choosing as group. hope those 2 posts will show that splitting. Here i couldn't explain full scenario as it would be very lengthy. thanks.

i am surprised to find that answer given by site administrator for yesterday's puzzle is not correct.

Combinations for.... 2,2,1,0,0 ...30 is not correct.

If there are 5 letters , abcde then possible combinations for 2,2,1,0,0 are
a..bc..de
a..bd..ce
a...cd...be

b..ac..de
b..ad..ce
b...cd...ae

c..ba..de
c..bd..ae
c...ad...be

d..bc..ae
d..ba..ce
d...ca...be

e..bc..da
e..bd..ca
e...cd...ba

so possible combinations are 15 and not 30.

pls check and correct me, if I am wrong.

I think solution given for 4/2/2011 puzzle is not correct.

Possible combination
Combinations No of method
5,0,0,0,0 1
4,1,0,0,0 5
3,1,1,0,0 10
3,2,0,0,0 10
2,1,1,1,0 10
2,2,1,0,0 30
1,1,1,1,1 1
--------------------------
67

combinations for 2,2,1,0,0 will be 15 and not 30 as mentioned in solution given today.
In that case , total combinations/methods will be 52 which is not given in options if 10th option is 'None' and not 'none of the above ' as asked by Jagat earlier.

I have given the answer considering 10th option as 'none of the above'.

Pls check on dated 22/12/10.

1, 60, 60, 24, 7, 4.5 ............

solution given is

The sequence is
1 second

1 minute = 60 seconds

1 hour = 60 minutes

1 day = 24 hours

1 week = 7 days

1 month = 4.5 weeks

1 year = 12 months

How one can take 1 month = 4.5 weeks ?

Even if we take month having 31 days , then
1 month = 31/7= 4.43 weeks which can be taken as 4.4 and not as 4.5.

There are infinite solutions for the puzzle dated 2.12.2010.

the sum of 3 numbers x,y,z is 6. Possible integral solution are, if it is given that
x != y != z != 0
where (!= means not equal to)

The integers can be +ve as well as negative whole numbers.
As per given statement, 6 solutions is not correct sol.
It can be correct for positive integral solutions only or x != y != z >0
where (!= means not equal to)

The given statement is ..the sum of 3 numbers x,y,z is 6. Possible integral solution are, if it is given that
x != y != z != 0.

If it means X is not equal to y not equal to z but greater than zero, then some solutions are possible .

If x! means x factorial, then there is some mistake in qn.

Also the statement should be Possible positive integral solution are, if it is given that
x != y != z != 0.

If -ve integers are also permitted, then there are infinite possible solutions.
Pls check the statement and advise.

How it can be Rs 250 /- for following case.A watch is available for Rs. 970 cash or Rs. 210 as cash down followed by three equal monthly instalments.
Balance amount is Rs 970-210= Rs 760. When there is interest of 16%, in any case, each instalment should be more than 760/3= 253.33. Please check otherwise it will affect the authenticity of site and site administration.

Answer should be Rs 260.

if monthly rate is r,then obviously
(1+r)^12=1.16
and if monthly installment is E then
E(1/(1+r) +1/(1+r)^2 +1/(1+r)^3)=970-210
then you can solve E=260

Please check the question and accepted answer please.

A watch is available for Rs. 970 cash or Rs. 210 as cash down followed by three equal
monthly instalments. If the rate of interest is 16% per annum, find the monthly Installment.

Answer accepted is each monthly instalment as Rs 250.
Cash down payment is Rs 210.

Total amount received is Rs 3*250+210= 750+210=960.

Is there any fool who will buy the watch in cash for Rs 970 when he can it for Rs 960 in 3 instalments ?

Please check.

Respected Sir,

I am Venkatesh ,, Last week i scored more than 80..And i claimed for cash price. but there is no response from your side.. I want to know whether u give that price.. For your information i saw in the price distribution list that many of them got rs 500 for scoring more than 80.. Whether that is true or not.. or just for advertisement for ur site... But i know that there is no price for who scored above 95(which is in ur price.html page)... Whenever we asked about the price detail. u recommend to visit that price page. But it didnt clearly mention about that price for who scored more than >80 & < 95..
Please provdie correct information about prices..

Thank u.
Yours Faithfully
