A train passes a standing man 11.3 seconds and passes a bridge of length 396m in 18 seconds .the speed of the train is
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Devendra Marghade   1 year ago
Let the speed of the train be x m/sec and length of the train be y m, then y/x=11.3 or y - 11.3x = 0 --(i)
Also, (y + Length of platform)/x=18
(y+396)/x=18 => 18x-y=396 ---(ii)
Solving (i) & (ii), we get, x=59.10 and y=667.88
Hence speed of the train is 59.10 m/s

the students of a class appeared for an exam which had 200 questions. Each correct answer was awarded 2 Marks and for each wrong answer one-third of a mark was deducted. two student answered all the question in it. the first student got the maximum possible marks and the second student got 175 marks less than him. find the number of questions correctly answered by the second student. 1)115 2)125 3)135 4)145 ) none of.

2) 125

Maximum possible marks, 1st student got = 2*200 = 400
.'. Marks of 2nd student = 400 - 175 = 225
Let for 2nd student, correct answers=x and wrong answers=y
Then, x + y = 200 ---(i) and 2x - y/3 = 225 ---(ii)
Solving equation (i) & (ii), we get x=125, y=75
Hence, 2nd student solved 125 correct answers.

Two cars starts from point A and B to B and A respectively. They cross each other in 1.2 hour and the first car reaches A at 1 hour before the second car reaches B. If the distance between A and B is 50 km, what is the speed of the slower car? 1)20km/hr 2) 10km/hr 3)15km/hr 4)25km/hr........ Which is correct questions in both of. Please solve if any is correct please 🙏😊

Speed of the slower car=16.66 km/hr

Let the speed of the car starting from point A and B be a and b km/hr.
Given, car starting from B reaches A, 1 hour early => Car starting from A is slower, so we have to find 'a'
As car cross each other in 1.2 hrs => 50/(a+b) = 1.2 => a+b = 125/3 ---(i)
Time difference of cars reaching B and A = 50/a - 50/b = 1 ---(ii)
Now substituting, b=125/3 - a from eqn. (i) into (ii), we get 3a² - 425a + 6250 = 0 ---(iii)
(3a-50) (a-125) = 0
a=50/3, a=125, (Ignoring a=125 as with this speed two cars cann't cross each other in 1.2 hrs)
Therefore, speed of slower car=50/3=16.66 km/hr and faster car=25 km/hr.

Sheela, Sandhya and jyotsna can type a page in in 10, 15 and 18 minutes respectively. they decided to work together for equal time to type a document which contains 980 pages. how many pages are typed by jyotsna ? 1)280 2)275 3)245 4)350 5)none
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   3 years ago
3) 245

In 1 min, individually Sheela, Sandhya and Jyotsna can type 1/10, 1/15, 1/18 pages respectively.
Together in 1 min they can type 1/10 + 1/15 + 1/18 = 2/9 page.
For 980 pages time required = 980/(2/9) = 4410 min.
So, pages typed by Jyotsna in 4410 min = (1/18)*4410 = 245

vimal alone can do a piece of work in 36 days. the time taken by vimal in completing 1/6th of the work equals the time taken by Gopi to complete 2/5th of the same work. in how many days can they both complete the work if they work together?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   3 years ago
10 (10/17) days

Days required by Vimal=36. So Vimal can complete 1/6 of the work in (1/6)*36=6 days.
If Gopi takes 'x' days for same work, then days required for 2/5 of work=2x/5=6
=> x=15
Thus 1 day's work of Vimal & Gopi = 1/36 + 1/15 = 17/180
Hence, required days = 180/17 = 10 10/17

, Q, R and S are four friends and they are working independently on a work. R can do the work in M days, whereas S can do the same work in 2M days. R started the work and worked for only 144/7 days. then, he was replaced with S, who completed the remaining work in the same time as P and Q working together would finish the entire work. the efficiency ratio of P and Q is 4:3. if P and Q are working on alternate days, with P being first, the work will finished in 41 days.

1)in how many days can R individually complete the total work?

If 36 persons are engaged on a piece of work, the work can be completed in 40 days. After 32 days, only 3/4 th of the work was completed. How many more persons are required to complete the work on time?
A)10
B)8
C)9
D)12

D)12

Work completed by 36 persons in 32 days=3/4
1 person's 1 days work = (3/4)/(32*36) = 1/1536
Now remaining work=1/4 and remaining days=40-32=8
So, required work in 1 day = (1/4)/8 = 1/32
Total persons required = (1/32)/(1/1536) = 48
Hence, additional persons = 48 - 36 = 12

A man borrows a sum of rs 96,000 at 5% p.a. interest compounded annually. At the end of one year, he repays a certain amount and he repays the balance amount of rs 70,980 at the end of the second year. What amount does he repays at the end of the first year?
Reply Like? Yes | No (2)
Devendra Marghade   3 years ago
Rs. 33200

Amount after 1 year = 96000*(1 + 5/100) = 100800
Let he repays Rs. x after 1 year, then amount to be paid after 2nd year=(100800 - x)*(1 + 5/100) = 70980
100800 - x = 67600
=> x=33200

In a local election, 2400 people were to vote for Party A or Party B. Party A was bound to win the election. However, on Election Day, 33% of the voters of Party A were kidnapped. Party B was also able to influence the remaining Party A voters and thus double the strength of its voters. In this way, Party A lost by a majority which was half of that by which it would have won had the elections been fair. How many people finally voted for Party A and Party B?

Devendra Marghade   3 years ago
Final voters of party A=1029, B=1371

In fair election, party A voters=1542, party B voters=858, majority of A=684
After 33% and some voters of A shifted to B, Party A voters=1029, party B voters=1371, majority of B=342

Social scientists have found that people who marry young are seldom prepared for marital roles. Also the men and women who marry as young adults live longer than those who never marry. According to a study, young adults who are about to get married have fewer unhealthy habits, like smoking and uncontrolled drinking of alcohol, as compared with the other people of the same age.

1)The institution of marriage forces young men and women to quit smoking and drinking
2)Those who marry at an older age live a shorter life than those who get married at a younger age.
3)People who marry at an older age are well prepared to take up marital roles
4) Young adults who are not about to marry are more likely to have unhealthy habits than those who are about to marry.
