A man pays off 3/20th of his debt every month. At the end of 6 months his balance debt is 290rs. How much debt (rs) has he cleared off every month?

a) 500 b )450 c) 435 d) 400
Reply Like? Yes | No
Saraswathy   11 years ago
Let x be the total amount he has to pay
3/20 of x is => 3x/20
For 6 months he might have paid 6*(3x/20) = 9x/10
Balance debt => x - 9x/10 = 290
x = 2900
Every month he cleared 2900*3/20 = 435

13 chairs and 5 tables were bought for 8280rs. If the avg cost of the table will be 1227rs what is the avg cost of a chair?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Saraswathy   11 years ago
Let C be the total cost of 13 chairs nd T be the total cost of 5 tables
Then
C + T = 8280
Given Avg. cost of table is 1227
Then T/5 = 1227
T = 1227*5 = 6135
Total cost of 5 tables T = 6135
Now C = 8280 - T
C = 8280 - 6135 = 2145
Total cost of 13 chairs = 2145
Avg. cost of 13 chairs ll be => 2145/13 = 165

Ans : 165

40% of the employees of a certain company are men and 75% of the men earn more than 25000rs per year. If 45% of the companys employees earn more than 25000rs per year. What fraction of the women employed by the company earn 25000rs per year or less?

a) 1/4 b) 3/4 c) 1/3 d) 2/11 I NEED COMPLETE SOLUTION PLS HELP ME
Reply Like? Yes | No
~Sandeep~   11 years ago
Answer: a) 1/4
Reasons:
Assume Total number of Employees in Company = 100
Number of Men = 40, Number of women =60
Number of Men who earn more than 25000 = 75* 40/100 = 30
Number of Total Employee who earn more than 25000 = 45*100/100 = 45
Number of Women who earn more than 25000 = 45-30 = 15
Fraction = 15/60 = 1/4

Harika Punna   11 years ago
I think the answer is 3/4.
Because 15 out of 60 women earn more than 25000, so, 45 women earn 25000 or less than that.
So, answer is 45/60=3/4..

Agree Harika..sorry I didn't realized that we need to find 25000 or less.
Answer should be 3/4

let total no of employee=100
male=40
female=60
no of employee having earning more than 25000=45
no of men employee having earning more than 25000=75%of 40=30
so no of women employee having earning less than or equalto 25000 is=60-(45-30)=45
so fraction is 45/60==3/4

Rohan lends 10000rs in 4 parts. If he gets 8% interest on 2000rs, 15/2% on 4000rs and 17/2% on 1400rs. What percent of interest must he got for the remainder if his avg annual interest is 8.13% ?

a) 10% b)9 % c) 8% d) none I NEED COMPLETE SOLUTION PLS HELP ME

Ins is B.
explanation:
8% interest on 2000=160
15/2% interest on 4000=300
17/2% on 1400
So what is R for remaining rupees? ? Is to b found. ..
Total annual interest is 8.13% so total interest will be 813.
Now 160 +300+119=579
So 813 - 579 = 234
Now r can be found because I=234, p=2600, n=2600 by simple interest formula which is >> I = PRN/100
So u wiil get R = 9.
Hope my explanation would help you...

(1234)^2+(1230)^2 / 4+(1232)^2
((1230+4)^2 + 1230^2)/(2^2 + (1230+2)^2)
(1230^2+4^2+2*1230*4+1230^2/(4+1230^2+2^2+2*1230*2)
[2*(!230)^2+16+8*1230] / [1230^2 + 8 + 4*1230]

3men, 4women, 6children can complete a work in 7days. A women does double the work a man does and a child does half the work a man does . How many women alone can complete this work in 7days?

a)7 b)8
Reply Like? Yes (3) | No
Devendra Marghade   11 years ago
7 Women

If 1 day work of 1 Man, 1 Woman & 1 Children is (1/M) , (1/W) & (1/C) respectively
Then 1 day work of 3 Men, 4 Women & 6 Children =(3/M)+(4/W)+(6/C)= 1/7 -----(i)
Given women does double the work a man, so (2/M)=(1/W) or 1/M =1/2W ----(ii) and
child does half the work a man, so (1/2M) =1/C ,so from (ii), (1/C)=(1/4W) ---(iii)
Eqn. (i) becomes, (3/2W)+(4/W)+(6/4W)= 1/7 , On solving, W=49
1 Woman can complete the work in 49 days
So to complete the work in 7 days 49/7= 7 women are required.

If 5/x+6y=13 and 3/x+4y=7, find the value of y?
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Saraswathy   11 years ago
5/x + 6y = 13
3/x + 4y = 7
Lets take a=1/x... Then the 2 eqns ll become
5a + 6y = 13 --->(1)
3a + 4y = 7 --->(2)
(1) - (2) =>
2a + 2y - 6 = 0 => a + y - 3 = 0
a = 3 - y
5(3 - y) + 6y = 13
15 - 5y + 6y = 13
y = -2
a = 3 - y => 3 - (-2) => a = 5
1/x = 5 => x = 1/5

A man has to pay 975rs in yearly instalments and each instalment is less than the earlier one by 5rs. The amount of first instalment is 100rs. In what time the entire amount will be paid?

a)15 b)12 I need complete solution pls help me
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Saraswathy   11 years ago
First installment = 100
sec ll be 95, third ll be 90 nd so on...
So 100+95+90+85+.... = 975
a = 100, d=-5, Sn=975,
Sn=n[2a+(n-1)*d)/2
975 = n[2(100)+(n-1)*(-5)]/2
n^2 - 41n + 390 = 0
Solving the above eqn ll give n=15 (or) n=26...
Given options are 15 nd 12... So n value is 15...

The radius of a circle is 13cm and AB is a chord which is at a distance of 12cm from the centre. The length of the chord is?

a) 10cm b) 8cm
Reply Like? Yes | No
Saraswathy   11 years ago
AB is a chord...
Let O be the center of circle nd M be the mid-point of the chord AB...
Then OM = 12cm, OB = 13cm, AM=MB , AB=AM+MB
Apply Pythagoras theorem
(OB)^2 = (OM)^2+(MB)^2
(MB) ^2 = (OB)^2-(OA)^2
(MB)^2 = (13)^2 - (12)^2 => 169-144 = 25
MB = 5
AB = 5+5=10

a)30kg b)20kg

assume that 1kg sugar=10rs
given that,
overall profit =17%
17% of 500=85
then 50kg sugar=50*10=500

given 15% on one part =30kg=30*10/kg=300rs
15%of 300=45/-
the remaining part=20kg
20%of 200=40/-
total=30kg+20kg=15% of 300+20% of 200=45+40=85

so one part=30kg and remaining part=20kg

Let the money invested in each scheme be x, y, z
SI = p*n*r/100
SI of 3 schemes ll be => x*6*10/100 , y*10*12/100, z*12*15/100
Ratio of SI ll be => 3x/5 : 6y/5 : 9z/5
=> 3x : 6y : 9z
Ratio of SI of 3 schemes => x : 2y : 3z
Given he gets the same interest on all the schemes ... So x=2y=3z
x = 3z
y = 3z/2
z = z
Ratio of their investments ll be => 3z : 3z/2 : z
=> 6z : 3z : 2z
