Q. There was a big stone of 40 kg in grocery shop by which he used to weight. one day the stone fall down by his helper and break down in to four small pieces. inspite of being angry upon his helper the grocer said him thank you very much.because now he can weight all the weight using these pieces from 1 to 40 kg .find out the weights of four small pieces of stones

If u r allowed to use weights on both sides of Pan of balance, then reqd weights are
3^0,3^1,3^2,3^3, 3^4 .. so on.
If u r restricted to use weights in one pan only, then reqd weights are

using 1,3,9,27 we can weight any weight that comes within range of 1 to 40 kg .
