In each round he happened to double the amount with himself and in each round he gave Rs 'x'to his friend .At the end of three rounds he was left with no money .If the amount he gave to his friend in each round was Rs 20 more than the amount he started with. find the amount he started with initially

• let he started with rs x.
  ans rs 140.
  then in 1st round- 2x-(x+20)= (x-20)
  in 2nd round 2(x-20)-(x+20) = (x-60)
  in 3rd round 2(x-60) -(x+20)= x-140
  now he was left with no money so x= 140
