Maths Puzzle
Milk is available in two vessels.
The ratio of milk to water in each
of the vessels is 9 : 7 and 11 : 8
respectively. Which vessel
contains more water?

- Because the question is about water we take the ratio of water:milk for easy solution.
1st vessel(water:milk)=7:9=0.778
2nd vessel(water:milk)=8:11=0.727
Therefore first vesel contains more water - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(1)
- In absolute terms, it will depend on volume of mixtures .
Relatively , as compared to milk,
7/16 = 0.4375
8/19= 0.421
7/16 >8/19
so first vessel contains more water. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- If we want which vessel has more water then it depend on the which vessel has more volume of mixture.
But if we consider relatively then first vessel contains more water as it contains 7/16 portion as water while other vessel contains 8/19 portion as water. Now
7/16 : 8/19 :: 133 : 128 which shows first vessel contains more water. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)
