• add difference of letters as follows
  
  (B-B)+(I-A)+(D-D)=0+8+0=8
  (D-A)+(I-I)=(G-D)=3+0+3=6
  so ans =6

  the numerical values of I=9 and A=1 so, I-A= 9-1=8
  now in DIG and AID , 1st and last letters are not same..
  therefor.. D-A= 4-1=3 and G-D=7-4=3
  adding these we get no. 3
