Blood Relations
The milk and water in two vessels A and B are in the ratio 4 : 3 and 2: 3 respectively. In what ratio, the liquids in both the vessels be mixed to obtain a new mixture in vessel C containing half milk and half water?
Read Solution (Total 10)
-
- milk in A=4/7 water in A=3/7 let x quantity of mixture from A be added to C
milk in B=2/5 water in B=3/5 let y quantity of mixture from B be added to C
hence,milk added from a + milk from b= 4x/7+2y/5
water added from a + water from b= 3x/7+3y/5
these two shud be equal as ratio in c is same for milk nd water
therefore,(4x/7+2y/5)/(3x/7+3y/5)=1
on solving,x/7=y/5
or x:y=7:5

- let c.p. of 1liter milk is 1RS.
now milk in 1st mixer is 4/7 and in 2nd mixure is 2/5.
milk in finle mixer is 1/2
now from mixure formula..
4/7 2/5
1/2
1/10 1/14
so ratio is 14/10 =7/5

- 4l milk + 3l water in first vessel
2l milk + 3l water in second vessel
add both mixture in third vessel at 1:1 ratio ,the mixture contains 6l milk : 6l water i.e half water and half milk

- Let the C.P of milk be Re 1 per liter. Milk in 1 liter mixture of A = 4/7 liter. Milk in 1 liter mixture of B = 2/5 liter. Milk in 1 liter mixture of C = 1/2 liter. C.P of 1 liter mixture in A=Re 4/7 C.P of 1 liter mixture in B=Re 2/5. Mean Price = Re 1/2. By rule of allegation we have:
Mean Price ½ 1/10 1/14 Required ratio = 1/10 : 1/14 = 7:5. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(13)
- i think the ratio is 1:1
milk and water ratio in vessel A is 4/3 and in B is 2/3
and we want 1/1 in vessel c
so the ratio vessel A and vessel B's liquid in c is 1:1 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(16)
- ans. is 7:5
Milk in 1 lit. mixture of A=4/7 lit.
Milk in 1 lit. mixture of B=2/5 lit.
Milk in 1 lit. mixture of C=1/2 lit.
By rule of alligation we have required ratio X:Y
Mean ratio= 1/2
X=1/2-2/5=1/10
Y=4/7-1/2=1/14
X:Y= 14:10= 7:5 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(2)
- the answer will be 7:5
because the taotal amount of liquid in vessel A is 7L and in vessel B is 5L, so they have to be mixed in 7:5 ratio in order to obtain the half milk and half water in Vessel C, assuming 4:3 to be 4L and 3L resp. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(7)
- Ans. Ratio of A:B in vessel C should be 1:1
Suppose A contains 4L Milk & 3L water & B 2L Milk & 3L water then
Combining complete contain of A & B to C we get 6L milk & 6L water
If half taken then from A - 2:1.5 & B - 1:1.5 So in C - 3:3
Hence 1:1 is the Ratio. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(11)
- Milk in 1 litre mixture of A = 4/7 litre.
Milk in 1 litre mixture of B = 2/5 litre.
Milk in 1 litre mixture of C = 1/2 litre.
By rule of alligation we have required ratio X:Y
X : Y
4/7 2/5
/
(Mean ratio)
(1/2)
/
(1/2 – 2/5) : (4/7 – 1/2)
1/10 1/1 4
So Required ratio = X : Y = 1/10 : 1/14 = 7:5
