ram and shakil run a race of 2000m. ram gives shakil a start of 200m and beats by 1min. next ram gives shakil a start of 6 mins and beats him by 1000m. find time in mins can run race seperately

- ram travel 2000m then sakil travel 1800-v.[v = velocity of sakil]
ram travel 1000m then sakil travel 2000-6v.
i.e.2000/1000 = 1800-v/2000-6v
v = 200m/min
time taken by sakil=2000/200 = 10min
similrly time taken by ram = 8min - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(6)
- check this @ VINOD CHAUHAN
LET r be velocity of ram and s be the velocity of Sakil
then
(2000/r)=(1800/s)-60......(1)
second case
distance Sakil travel in 6 min=360s
again equating time for both
1000/r=(2000-360s)/s.......(2)
solving (1) &(2) we get s = 20/6
putting value in first we get time = 480sec = 8min
similarly put for 2nd and we will get 10 min.
Understand this time? - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(2)
- ans. 8 min.
Assume that the ratio of speeds of ram and shakil be constant.let the speed of rahul and shakil be a & b m/min. respectively.
then
a/c to question,
a/b=2000/(1800-1*b)=1000/(2000-6b)
solving we get,
b=200 m/min,a=250m/min.
then time taken by ram to run a race of 2000m =2000/250=8 min. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- why are u taking 1000/r in second equation..
- 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- 1------. Ram gives shakil a head start of 200m and beat him by 1 min.
So Ram speed is 200m is 60sec.(1 min)
2------. Shakil beats Ram by 1000m in 6 mins
i.e when ram covers 1000m then shakil covers 2000m by 6 mins.
so Shakil speed is 1000/6min =500/3
So ram speed is 2000/200=10 min.
and shakil speed is 2000/(500/3)=12min
ans is 10min,12min - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(6)

- there is a problem with this question. in the second round Shakil will beat Ram by 1000m. if you now solve the question , the answer would be :
Shakil = 10 min
Ram = 8 min - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
