Time Distance and Speed
A bus starts at 6:00 pm. from starting point at d speed if 18m/s. reached its destination. Waited for 40 minutes. And again returned back at the speed of 28m/s. Find the time to reach the destination ?

- suppose distance is x meters
-> x/18 - 40*60 = x/28
on solving x = 120960 m
time = 120960 / 18 = 6720 sec
= 6720/ 60 = 112 min = 1 h 52 min
hence ans is 7:52 pm - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(18) No(16)
- time is not equal here .. hence we cant equate

- shivam chugh....plzz explain why u substract
x/18 - 40*60 = x/28...

- but the bus is not returning in d same time it travelled to destination.
so how can we say dat time is equal? - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- VAGHANI RUSHI:
How 18m/s = 5km/hr....this is not correct.
actually 18*18/5=64.8 km/hr - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- suppose distance between source and destination is X
18 m/s = 5 km/hr
28 m/s = 70/9 km/hr
-> X/5 - 40 = 9X/70
-> so u get the value of x=28/3
so your time is X/5-40 or 9X/70 put value of X= 28/3
and u get 1/3 hr (Ans) - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(7)
- 18 metre per second is equal to 5 kilometre per hour
28 metre per second is equal to 70/9 kilometre per hour
let distance is x km
for first ride it takes x/5 hrs
for 2nd ride it takes 9x/70 hrs
