8 men can build a foundation 18m long,2m broad and 12m high in 10 days ,working 9 hours a day. find how many men will be able to build a foundation 32m long,3m broad and 9m high in 8days working 6hrs a day?

- men*day*time/capacity=const
(8*10*9)/(18*2*12)=(x*8*6)/(32*3*9)
x=30 men - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(16) No(0)
- (8/32)*(2/3)*(12/9)*(8/10)*(6/9)=8/x
x=30
(by chain rule)

- 8:(8*2*12):(10*9)=x:(32*3*9):(6*8)
(8*10*9)/(18*2*12)=(x*8*6)/(32*3*9)
on solving
x=30 men ans - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- it is solved by the rule of three.... (chapter Ratio & proportion)
we are given to calculate no. of mens so
simple reasoning--->> a) foundation has increased so ---->> more men
b) days decreased--->> more men
c) working hours decreased ---->> more men
we have to look for the required value i.e men
so taking the no. of mens given value as 8
since days have decreased so we will require more men i.e have to multiply 8 by greater fraction(i.e whose numerator is greater than denominator) in terms of days i.e 8*10/8
similarly for working hrs as:- 8* 10/8 * 9/6 = 15 mens ans - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(8)
