  Because in that problem they didn't mention the details like,one mice take 2 hr or 3hr etc..they told only 24 hr to test..so 1 mice is enough..rest are useless words.

  first let the mouse taste the first can. then after some time(say 1min) the mouse tastes 2nd can. in this way in 30 mins the mouse will taste all the thirty cans.
  after 14 hrs and x mins the mouse will die.

  If suppose the poison was in 7th can the mouse will die in 14 hrs and 7 mins...

  so each mouse will get 5 cans. after tasting from each can one mouse among them will die with in 14 hrs. So will have 5 mouse...nw take those 5 cans group in wich poison was ther nd offered one can to one mouse i.e 5 mouse nd 5 cans...we will come to know in the meantime the can containing poison.
