money for travelling expenses and purchased 5 pencils.So how many books he can purchase with
the remaining money
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- price of 1 pencil=100/25=4
price of 1 book= 100/15=20/3
for travelling expenses=rs15(15%of100)
remaining amount=rs85
cost of 5 pencils=4*5=20
now remaining amount=rs65
in 1rs ---------- 3/20 books can purchased
so in rs65 -------- 3/20*65=39/4=9 3/4
so 9 books he can purchase with remaining money. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(49) No(0)
- total money in the pocket=100
with 100rs the person can buy 25 pencils ----------each pencil cost=100/25=4rs
with 100rs the person can buy 15 books ------------each book cost= 100/15=20/3
traveling expences= 15% of 100rs=15rs
remaining total money=85rs
he brought 5 pencils cost of 5pencils=5*4rs=20rs
net balance=85-20=65rs
with 65rs how many books we can brought
i.e, 1 book =20/3rs
xbooks=65rs
criss cross the above equations x*(20/3)=65*1
x=65*(3/20)
x=39/4 i.e, nearly equal to 40/4
if shop keeper is kind we get 10 books.
else if shop keeper is conjus we get 9 books only.
