Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- Father's Age be f, Son 1 be x and Son 2 be y, then
f=3(x+y) ... (1)
After 20 years,
f+20 = x+20 + y+20
3(x+y)+20 = x+y+40
2(x+y) = 20
x+y = 10
put this in eqn 1
f= 3*10= 30 Years - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(37) No(0)
- present ages:
tom=x
1st child=y
2nd child=z
the question says, x=3(y+z)..........eq1
after 20 years, their ages are as follows
tom=x+20
1st child=y+20
2nd child=z+20
now the question says, x+20=y+20=Z+20 and hence
x=y+z+20..................eq 2
equating 1=2
y+z+20=3(y+z)
y+z=10...........eq3
applying 3 in 1
x=3(10)=30 years - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
