On a given day, a bank had 16000 cheques returned by
customers. Inspection of the first 800 cheques indicated
that 100 of those 800 had errors and were therefore the
available immediately for data processing. On this basis,
hwo many cheques would be available immediately for data
processing on that day?
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- Total number of cheque=16000
100 out of 8oo are error therefore (100/800=1/8) i.e 1/8 of 16000 has error
And, 1/8*16000=2000, 2000 are error cheque hence sent for processing
Therefore 16000-2000=14000, 14000 are next sent for processing.

- 800 checks contain checks with error = 100
1 checks contain checks with error = 100/800
16000 checks contain checks with error = (100/800)*16000
=2000
hence 2000 check will avalaible foe immidiate data processing.

- It is given for every 800 cheques 100 are error
so (800-100)=700 error free
total 16000 cheques
so dividing them into 800 in each we get (16000/800)=20
so 20 sets of cheques (each 800) where each set has 700 error free
so 20*700=14000 is the answer - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
