Q. A box is made in form of a cube. If a second cubical box has inside dimensions three times those of the first box, how many times as much does the second box contain?
Option
A) 3
B) 6
C) 9
D) 12
Read Solution (Total 4)
-
- let original cube has side=x
volume=x^3
when dimensions are 3 times then side is 3x
vol=(3x)^3= 27x^3
so, 27x^3/x^3= 27 (I DONT KNW ABOUT THE OPTIONS PROVIDED) - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(23) No(8)
- Let the side of cube be a:
First box's surface area=6a^2
Second Box's surface area=6(3a)^2=6*9a^2=54a^2
i.e second/first=54a^2/6a^2=9

- If the side of first cube = x
so volume= x^3
So the side of second cube= 3x
so volume= (3x)^3 = 27 (x^3)
Second box can contain upto 27 (x^3)/x^3 = 27 times. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
