Q. One rectangle having shorter side is 2m and is fold along the line joining the midpoint of the longer side. the ratio of longer and shorter side in both new and old rectangle remains same than what was the length of longer side in new rectangle.
Option
a) v2
b) 2v2
c) 2
d) None of these
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- let sides be x and y
smaller side=x
longer side=y
now as y is folded in half, then side y becomes y/2
now one side is x other is y/2
ratio of sides is either x/(y/2) or (y/2)/x
comparing
initial ratio= x/y
final ratio= x/(y/2) or (y/2)/x
x/y=x/(y/2) is not possible
so, x/y=(y/2)/x is possible
as x=2
2/y=(y/2)/2
by solving we get y=2v2

- 2
the length of longer side at older l
then ratio=l:2
if l/2 is longer then shorter will be (l/2)/shorter=l/2 it is not possible because the shorter value must be 2 .
so the longer value is 2

- 'a' is length of longer side
a/2=2/a/2
a^2=8
a=2*v2
sides of new rectangle is v2 and 2
length of the longer side is 2
ans : option C - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- answer is 2v2

- l/2 =2/(l/2)
so l/2=4/l
and l^2=8
l=2^(3/2)
answer is option b - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
