  second loss=y
  x+y=68 eq(1)
  y=x+6 eq(2)
  put value of eq(2) in eq(1)
  x+x+6=68
  2x=68-6
  2x=62
  x=62/2=31
  y=31+6=37
  amount lost by friend in the second race=37+4=41
