Here is a series of comments on the ages of three persons J, R, S by themselves.
S : The difference between R's age and mine is three years.
J : R is the youngest.
R : Either I am 24 years old or J 25 or S 26.
J : All are above 24 years of age.
S : I am the eldest if and only if R is not the youngest.
R : S is elder to me.
J : I am the eldest
R : S is not 27 years old.
S : The sum of my age and J’s is two more than twice R's age.
One of the three had been telling a lie throughout whereas others had spoken the truth. Determine the ages of S,J,R.

- Let J speaks the truth.
Hence, R is youngest and J is eldest.
Hence R's statement "S is elder to me" and S' statement "I am eldest if and only if R is not youngest" is true.
Hence All speaks the truth.
But as only 2 of 3 speaks the truth, hence J cannot speak the truth.
Hence, J is telling lie.
Now, S, R and J be ages of S, R and J respectively.
Hence, S = R + 3, and
S + J = 2(S - 3) + 2
Hence, S = J + 4
Hence, age of S, R and J are J +4, J + 1 and J respectively.
Now, S is not 27, hence R cannot be 24, and
If J is 25 then all of them will be above 24, which will make J's statement true.
Hence Neither R = 24 nor J =25.
Hence, by third statement, S = 26.
R = 23 and J = 22 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- There is something missing in the question. We could not solve this, by trying all the 3 possible cases {i.e.1) S is lier, Ris lier, J is lier}

- R Because
S:
1)R & S = 3 YEARS
2)S-r
3)J+S=2+2(24)
51=50
J should be lie.

- ans :s=27,j=22,r=23
case 1)consider J speaks lie:
s:{s-r=3,s eldest only if r not youngest,s+j=2+2r}
r:{r=24 or j=25 or s=26,s elder then r,s not 27}
j:{r not youngest,all are not >24,j not eldest}
1) we know from above, s elder then r,r not youngest and j not eldest
so,s is eldest, r is elder and j is youngest
2)s=3+r;s+j=2+2r =>r-j=1
so,s-r=3 and r-j=1
we know all are not > 24 and r=24 or j=25 or s=26
so,a)if we take r=24, then s=27 =>which is invalid according to r's statement
b)if we take j=25, then all are above 24 =>which is invalid according to j's
c)if we take s=26, then r=23 and j=22
case 2)consider S speaks lie:contradicts in some sentence
case 3)consider R speaks lie:contradicts in some sentence - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- J is the Lier.
S=26 R=23 J=22
Because,
Use False conditions
J : R is the youngest
J : All are above 24 years of age.
J : I am the eldest - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
