There are two water tanks A and B, A is much smaller than B. While water fills at the rate of 1 liter every hour in A, it gets filled up like, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160 in tank B. (At the end of first hour, B has 10 liters, second hour it has 20 liters and so on). If tank B is 1/32 filled of the 21 hours, what is total duration of hours required to fill it completely?
a) 26
b)25
c)5
d)27

- in 26 hours it will be filled..becoz tank B is 1/32 filled of the 21 hours
tank B is 1/16 filled of the 22 hours
tank B is 1/8 filled of the 23 hours
tank B is 1/4 filled of the 24 hours
tank B is 1/2 filled of the 25 hours
tank B is filled of the 26 hours.. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(0)
- At the end of 21 hrs 1/32 is filled
At the end of 22 hrs 1/16 is filled
At the end of 23 hrs 1/8 is filled
At the end of 24 hrs 1/4 is filled
At the end of 25 hrs 1/2 is filled
At the end of 26 hrs 1 is filled completely
Then total duration of hours required to fill it completely = 5 hrs
because already 1/32 is filled in 21 hrs.The remaining 5 hrs need to completely filled... - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)
- see sequence 10 , 20 ,40, 80 ...... means quantity getting doubled....
1/32 is filled aftr 21 hrs... so 31/32 have to be filled... we know that 2^5 == 32
so 31 parts will be filled aftr 5 hrs.. we take 2^ coz iys gettng doybled each time.. so total time would be needed... 21 +5 === 26 hrs.

- as given (1/32)->21
multiplying with 2 for (1/32) we get (2/32)=(1/16)->22
multiplying with 2 for (1/16) we get (2/16)=(1/8)->23
multiplying with 2 for (1/8) we get (2/ 8)=(1/4)->24
multiplying with 2 for (1/4) we get (2/ 4)=(1/2)->25
multiplying with 2 for (1/2) we get (2/ 2)=(1)->26
hence total duration is 26hrs
