- The probability of each number occurring at a place is equal. Suppose you have to select one digit(0-9), then probability of each digit is 1/10. Similarly consider a 4 digit number pqrs,
now probability of 2 at place p is 1/9, at place q is 1/10, at place r is 1/10, at place s is 1/10. So the total probability of 2 is (1/9 +1/10+1/10+1/10) 37/90. Total no.of 4 digit no.'s = (9*10*10*10) 9000.
