- 75% is answer
As we know, area of hexagon is = (3√3)(a^2)/2
now lets take a=2
then area = 6√3
after fold it will side become half ; a=1
new area = 1.5√3
percentage= 6√3/ 1.5√3* 100=25 %
so decrease in area =100 - 25=75%

- area of hexagon=3√3 /2 * a^2
that means area is proportional to square of side a. If we decrease the size by x , then area will be
= 3√3 /2 * (a-x)^2
that means decrease will be =( 3√3 /2 * a^2) -(3√3 /2 * (a-x)^2)
% decrease= ((a^2)-(a-x)^2) / a^2

- assume side= 4
initial area=(3*sqrt(3)*a^2)/2 =41.3923
after fold side=2
The area folded = 6* area of each triangle
=6((2*2*sin(120))/2)
=10.3923
decrease in area= (10.3923/41.5692)*100
=25% - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
