The sides of the triangle are in the ratio 1/2:1/3:1/5 and Its perimeter is 155 cm, what is the difference between the largest sides?
a- 45 cm
b- 60 cm
c- 100 cm
d- 90 cm

- a. 45 cm
Ratio of sides 1/2 : 1/3 : 1/5 =15 : 10 : 6
Given perimeter=155 cm , so if sides are 15x, 10x & 6x, then 15x+10x+6x =155 ,x=5
So side are 15*5=75 ,10*5=50 & 6*5=30 cm and
Difference between largest & smallest side=75 -30=45 cm

- Ratio of sides = 1/2:1/3:1/5 = 15:10:6
Let the three sides be 15x, 10x and 6x.
Therefore, 15x+10x+6x = 155
or, 31x= 155
or, x=5
Thus, the sides are 15*5=75, 10*5=50, 6*5=30.
The question wants the difference between the largest sides. The largest sides we get are 75 and 50. So, answer should be 25. But there is no option for 25.
So, I think they want the difference between largest and smallest side. Then the answer is 45 which is option.A. - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(16) No(0)

- as its question of ratio:
15/31*155=75
10/31*155=25
10/31*155=30
so,dill btwn largst side=75-30=45 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
