There are five couples at a party.namely A&B,C&D,E&F,G&H,I&J.The couples shake their hands with the one they are acquainted with.
I)Find the total number of handshakes?
II) Find the member whom with the A does not shake the hands?(other than B)

- There are totally 40 handshakes....
First couple handshake with other is 8+8 = 16
Second couple handshake with other except first couple..becuase we already add their handshakes. so ie 6+6 = 12
Third couple handshakes is 4+4 = 8 (minus the first two couples handshake)
Fourth couple handshakes is 2+2 = 4 (minus the first three couples handshake)
Last couple handshakes is 0+0 = 0 (minus the first four couples handshake)

- total handshakes= (2n^C2) - n ( usually formula is nC2. here couples are given so 2nC2 - n. -n is because they will not shake hand with spouse). answer is 40.
or you can do it with another method:

bcoz there are 10 persons
so 1 person gives shake hands to 9 persons.
lly 10 persons gives 10*9=90

1st pair A and B do handshake with C&D ,E&F and so on..
SO,
8+8=16
2nd pair C&D do handshake with other couple except with first couple ( because we already add their handshakes)
SO,
6+6=12
3rd couple = 4+4 = 8
4th couple = 2+2 = 4
last couple 0 handshake.
