The incomes of X, Y and Z are in the ratio 5:7:9 and their expenditures are in the ratio 6:7:12. If X saves 30% of his income, then what is the ratio of their savings?
(a) 24:18:35
(b) 18:35:24
(c) 24:35:18
(d) 18:24:35

- (b) 18:35:24
Let the ratio of X, Y and Z's incomes be 5a : 7a : 9a and expenditure be 6b : 7b : 12b
Given X saves 30% of his income or 5a(30/100)=3a/2, so 5a - 6b = 3a/2
=> 7a=12b or b=7a/12
Now saving of Y = 7a - 7b = 7a - 7*(7a/12)= 35a/12 and
Saving of Z = 9a -12b = 9a - 12*(7a/12)= 2a
So ratio of their savings= 3a/2 : 35a/12 : 2 = 18 : 35 : 24 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
