Read Solution (Total 3)

- le t no of cows are x let no of hen are y total no of heads are x+y no of legs are 4x+2y because cow has 4 leg and hen has 2 legs according to question legs 14 more than twice heads so 4x+2y=2x+2y+14 4x-2x=2y-2y+14=14 2x=14 x=7

- Let be the number of cows be X & hens be Y
Total # of legs = 4X+2Y
According to question 2X+14 = 4X +2Y
By solving we get X+Y = 7. So min. & max. # of cows be 1 & 6 respectively.
By hit & check
Answers 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
# of Cows 1 2 3 4 5 6
# of Hens 6 5 4 3 2 1
# of Cow legs 4 8 12 16 20 24
# of hen legs 12 10 8 6 4 2
Total # of legs (A) 16 18 20 22 24 26
Twice Cow heads(B) 2 4 6 8 10 12
Difference (A)-(B) 14 14 14 14 14 14
So combination of Cows & hens are (1,6),(2,5),(3,4),(4,3),(5,2),(6,1). - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
