Time Distance and Speed
a train running at 7/11 of its own speed reached a place in 22 hrs.how much time could be saved if the train would run at its own speed?
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- 7/11 of its speed
so speed 7 : 11
speed and time inversely proportional to each other
so time 11 : 7
time 22 : 14 so 8 hours difference - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(0)
- distance= speed * time
let speed of train be "s"
then distance travelled by speed of (7/11)s in 22 hrs. = (7/11)s *22=14s
time taken to travel that distance with speed s = 14s/s=14 hrs
time saved = (22-14)hrs=8hrs - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(0)
- let speed of train be s=x
let present speed be s1=7/11(x)
time =22hrs
we know that speed=distance/time
therefore distance=speed * time= 7/11(x) * 22=14x
now if speed is x then, time=distance/speed=14x/x=14hrs
so saved time=22-14=8hrs - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- If train would run its own speed it could be saved 8 hr.
By running its own speed train covers the distance in 14 hr. - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(3)
- Speed is inversely proportional to time.
So ,
S1/S2=T2/T1
7/11=x/2
X=14 Hr.
Time saved= 22-14 = 8 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Given speed 7/11 But actual speed (1 - 7/11) = 4/11
now, Actual speed * time = (4/11 * 22) = 8 hr - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
