10 litres
B.
12 litres
C.
15 litres
D.
18 litres
Read Solution (Total 2)

- B. 12 litres
the cost of 1 litre milk is 20/1.5=40/3 rs / litre
we want the cost should be 10 2/3 per litre i.e. 32/3 per litre.
since in 40/3 rs, there is 1 litre milk, so in 32/3 rs, there will be 32/40=800 ml of milk.
hence for every 1 litre of milk, we have to mix 200 ml water. hence in 60 litre =60*200/1000=12 litres. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(5)
- cost of 1.5 lts of milk = Rs 20, hence cost of 1 lit of milk = 20/1.5 = Rs 40/3.
after mixing 'X' lits of water to the milk, the cost of 1 lit of milk is = 12 2/3 = Rs 32/3.
cost of 60 lits of milk @ Rs 40/3 = cost of (60+X) lits of diluted milk @ Rs 32/3
60 x 40/3 = (60 + X) 32/3
800 = 60 x 32/3 + 32X/3
800= 640 + 32X/3
160 = 32X/3
480 = 32X
X = 480/32 = 15 lits of water should be added to the milk - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
