  Relative speed=60+40= 100 mph
  Time after which they meet=240/100 =2.4 hrs
  Distance covered by train from Kansas city @60 mph= 60*2.4=144 miles
  So its distance from St. Louis=240-144= 96 miles and
  Distance covered by train from St. Louis @40 mph=40*2.4= 96 miles
  So both the trains will be at same distance from St. Louis.
