Today 1999 ,the age of Mohan and his grandmother differ by 6 years. Before 50 years Grandmother age was twice as that of Mohan. What is the present age of Mohan.

• I was confused when I read the question. Normally the difference between the ages of a person and his/her grandmother would not be 6 years. Anyhow the solution I got was same as HCAIR did.

• let age of mohan be x then age of grandm is x+6(according to question) now 50 yr back,age of mohan is x-50 and x+6-50=x-44 and x-44=2*(x-50)(according to question)

  x=y+6 and 2(x-50)=y-50 solving these 2 equations we get present age of mohan=44 yrs

  50 yrs ago, it is, (g-50)=2(m-50)
