Tim and Elan are 90 km from each other.they start to move each other simultaneously tim at speed 10 and elan 5 kmph. If every hour they double their speed what is the distance that Tim will pass until he meet Elan ?

- Speed of Tim and Elan are in the ratio 2:1. When they double their speed every hour,the ratio still remains same.hence 60:30 is the speed ratio..
60+30=90 km
Tim covers 60kms hence.

ANS::
tim initial speed=10
elan speed=5
after 1hr they traveled distances of 10 and 5 respect and speeds are doubled
after 2hrs distances are (10+20)=30 and (5+10)=15 kms and their speeds after 2hrs are 60 and 30 kmph resp
after 2 and half hrs the distances are (30+30=60) and(15+15=30)
therefore ans is 60 km... :) :) - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(2)

- ans is B(ie) 60
1st hour=tim 10kmph elan 5 the dist will be 90-15=75
2nd hr=tim->20kmph & elan->10 dist=75-30=45
3rd hr =tim->40 & elan->20..the totl dist for 3rd hr is 60.but we need only 45km to meet ..so we consider only 45mins instead of 3rd hr..
In 45mins =>tim ->30 & elan->15
totl dist travld by tim is 10+20+30=60 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- tim 10+20=30km in 2 hr
elan 5+10=15 in 2 hr
total 45 km they have coverd. remaining 45 km
45/(40+20)=3/4 hr
(3/4)hr*40km/hr=30km
so they meet after 30 km in remaining 45 km
but jim has already travelled 30 km so 30+30=60km jim has travelled when they meet - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 60 is the answer..
tim 10+20=30km in 2 hr
elan 5+10=15 in 2 hr
total 45 km they have coverd. remaining 45 km
