An equation of the form 4x+6y-2z=32 . Find the difference between x intercept and z intercept?

• To find X intercept, keep other 2 axis 0. That is y=0 and z=0. Equation becomes 4x = 32 or x = 8. Similarly to find Z intercept keep y=0 and x=0. Equation becomes -2z = 32 or z = -16. Difference is clearly 8-(-16) = 24.

• for x intercet put y=0,z=0 so x=32/4=8 ie (8,0,0)
  similarly z=-8ie (0,0,-6)
  so distance is sqrt(8^2+0^2+(-6)^2)=10

• intercept is always positive, as intercept is the distance from the origin to the point of intersection of the line or plane with the axis and also distance can't be negative. so
  
  intercept of the x-axis is---|32/4|=8
  and
  intercept of the z-axis is---|32/-2|=16
  
  so the difference is 16-8=8 or 8-16=-8 and if both options are given then 8 will be the answer.
