On a desert island there are nine lions and one sheep. Any lion can eat the sheep, but it is a magical sheep -- if a lion eats the sheep, he turns into a sheep (and can then be eaten by the other lions!)
Assuming perfectly rational lions, if we leave for a while and come back, how many lions and sheep will remain on the island?
Read Solution (Total 8)
-
- 8 lions and no sheeps. Once the magical sheep is eaten, it is dead. The lion turns into a sheep. Nothing is said about the magical ability of this new sheep. Hence, it must be assumed that it is not magical. No, there are 8 lions and 1 sheep. Any of the lions can eat the sheep. Now, there will remain 8 lions and no sheeps.

- 8 lions and one sheep.
Once this magical sheep is eaten by one lion having no knowledge about its magical feature , that lion will be converted to sheep.
As all lions are intelligent, they will think that anyone who will eat this sheep will convert to sheep.
so none of lions will try to eat that sheep. - 15 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(7)

- 0 lions and 9 sheeps.

- intially there were 9lions and one sheep. As soon as a lion eats the magical sheep it will die, hence now there will be 8 lions and 1 sheep. As it is not mentioned that the magical power goes to lion which eats the sheep so, when another lions eats the sheep it dies. Hence, there will be 7 lions and 0 sheep left.
