There is a toy train that can make 10 musical sounds. It makes 2 musical sounds after being
defective. What is the probability that me musical sound would be produced 5 times
consecutively? (1 of__)?
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- (1/2)^5 + (1/2)^5
= 1/32 + 1/32 = 1/16

- 32 is ans.... 5 times 2 sounds....1 time prob is 1/2 ...so 5 times 1/2*5 so 1/32 is ans

- no of passible sound = 2
it is ask for 5 times
then probability= (1/2^5) - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(15)
- I think answer would be 1 of 32 only.
There are two possibilities:
a) the train makes one out of 10 musical sounds.
b) the train is defective and makes 2 musical sounds.
each of the above two cases have probabilities = 1/2
but it is asked to produce 5 times consecutively and obviously the option b gets rejected as it can only produce 2, 4, 6, 8 sounds.
Therefore answer will be (1/2)^5. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(15)
- 5 times 2 sounds....1 time prob is 1/2 ...so 5 times
so (1/2)^5=1/32 is ans - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
