Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- let salary be x then expenses= x-(x*20/100)=4x/5
20% increase on expenses i.e 4x*20/(5*100)+4x/5=24x/25
x-24x/25=200 i.e x= 5000 option D - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- consider 'x' is his salary.
Initial savings is 20% of salary 'x' ie = x*(20/100)=1x/5.
so his initial expense is=salary - initial savings
= x - 1x/5
= 5x-1x/5
inti.expense = 4x/5.
later expenses increses by 20% ie,
new expense = intial expense * 20/100
= 4x/5 * 1/5
= 4x/25.
total expense = initial expense + new expense
= 4x/5 + 4x/25
= (4x*5 + 4x)/25
= (20x + 4x)/25
= 24x/25
after increses in his expense he can able to save rs.200
so, the salary(x)is,
salary(x)- total expense = savings
x - 24x/25 = 200
(25x - 24x)/25 = 200
x = 25 * 200
= 5000 rs
so,his monthly salary 'x' = 5000 rs(ans D) - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Lets assume that the salary is Rs 100,
then saving = Rs 20
and expense = Rs 80,
Now, new expense = Rs 80 + 20% of 80
= Rs 96
therefore, new savings = Rs 4
Using unitary method,
Rs 4 is the savings from Rs 100,
hence, Rs 200 is the savings from Rs (100/4)*200 = Rs 5000 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)

then expensee=100-20=80
increase in expenses=80*20/100+80=96
then saves =100-96=4
