All faces of a cube with an 8medge are painted. When the cube is cut into two smaller cubes with 2m edge how many of the 2m cubes have paint on exactly one face?
Read Solution (Total 8)

- when 8m cube is cutted into 2m cubes then each surface gives 4 cubes of exactly one face printed.
and cube has 6 faces then
no. of smaller cubes of exactly one face painted = 6*4 = 24 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(30) No(0)
- Formula for finding exactly one face painted in cube is
6(n-2)^2
So that 4 cubes are lies on edge when cutting 2m edged cube from 8m edge
6(4-2)^2=24 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(1)
- Cutting the cube into smaller cubes of 2m edge,leaves 4 one faced color cubes.
so on 6 side there will be total 24 cubes with only single face colored.

- When an 8m cube is cut into 2m cubes,there will be 4^3 = 64 cubes.
Out of this,(2*2)*6 = 24 cubes would be painted exactly on one face.
The reason is that,taking any square face,of the big cube and imagining that it
constitutes of 4*4 = 16 squares,except those outer squares,rest will be
painted exactly on one face,ie. each face has 2*2=4 such cubes.
So in total,there would be 6*4 = 24 such cubes. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(1)
- 4 on each face so total= 24

- Only the CENTER four faces on each side will have a Single colour..
therefore 6*4=24.

- Ans=24;
we know that all faces in cube are 6 ;
Here only 1 face painted are 4 on each face;
so total =6*4 = 24 ;

- each edge of a cube would be having 16 small cube faces....of these 16 faces located at boundaries (12 such) would have more than 1 faces painted......this leaves us with 4 faces....and a cube has 6 edges so total nos of facees = 6*4=24
