Time and Work
Two workers A and B working together completed a job in 5 days. If A worked twice as efficiently as he actually did, the work would have been completed in 3 days. To, complete the job alone, A would require how many days?
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- concluding from question,
(2x + 1/3y) 3 = (x + y) 5
.
.
.
1x=4y
x=4 and y =1
now find total work, 4+1=5 *5days= 25
A can do in 25/4....6 1/4. - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- Let us assume A's efficiency is A & B's is B
then,
1/A+1/B=1/5 --------(i)
since efficiency of A is increased as twice so,
in 2nd case
2/A+1/B=1/3 ------- (ii)
solving (i) & (ii) we get
A= 15/2 = 7.5 days alone needed by A to complete work - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- in this que. it is not mentioned that b works at 1/3 of his efficiency
